the thunder of it

 "Well, this is just crazy," Deano crammed another taco in his mouth. Mario was over with food and Bren was with him. He listened to Mario go on about Levi. He was worried about him. Especially, when Mario said, "I think something might be going on with him and that new girl at Nic's."

He didn't mean to overreact, but suddenly he felt someone needed to be on Carly's side, after all she was like a female Roman. Or so Deano imagined. 

"So what you're saying, he's the one who got her into that apartment," Deano looked at Mario.

"It looks that way."

"You guys need to quit all this speculation." Caitlin gave them a wince and went for the guacamole on her flour tortilla she covered it with cheese and little bit of taco meat.

"It just doesn't sound like him at all," Deano couldn't help himself. "I thought everything was fine with him and Carly."

"Maybe it is," Mario shook his head and went back to piling more refried beans on his plate and dipped a chip in it and ate.

Bren only smiled. "Oh, if they knew  we were talking about them, this way." She drank lemonade.

"It's probably not nearly as sexy as they are imagining," Caitlin told her. Bren couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh, let's hope Rico isn't this bad with his friends about us," Bren chuckled.

"Rico does not have that kind of mindset," Caitlin shrugged as she drank at her water bottle. "He's so easygoing. He thinks everyone has a good soul."

Deano gave her a perturbed look and Caitlin smirked back.

"Where's  my happy-go-lucky Deano?" Her smile was open as she teased him.

"I have a good mind to just-" Deano started.

"Don't you dare?" Caitlin pointed her finger at him, but just as she was about to stand up. She couldn't. She squinted in pain. Something was happening. 

"What's wrong!" Deano jumped up a little bug-eyed. He wiped his greasy hands from the napkin. 

"I don't know." Caitlin could hardly say. "I've never felt so..bad."
