It just didn't seem real. Here Caitlin was staying home, being careful. Eating properly like the doctor said.
She got a call from Megan to come over because she really needed her for something. She was trying to get something straightened out from when they lived together. Caitlin couldn't possibly think what that could be. All that was on her mind was the conversation she and Tori had a few days ago..about Melvin.
Yes, Tori said she remembered something. "He..he only talked about you. He kept wondering where it all went wrong. Like he knew it was all his fault, but he didn't know what he could do about it." It left Caitlin in tears when she thought about him. Oh, she'd wanted to love him too, but just couldn't. It wasn't meant to be, but it didn't keep her from being so sad. Thinking, he still might be here..if only...
But what Caitlin really wanted to ask Tori about....did she know Wade? She was certain of it now. Soren's father had to be Wade. He had to be. Of course, Deano shot her down every time she brought it up. It was best not to think about it. Not to bring it up. She needed to let it go.
Before she knew it she was suddenly in a wedding. HER OWN WEDDING. It was like this stage moment. They needed her to be the star of the show and there she was in an outfit she would never wear again. Never. But it pleased her father and her mother too. Which was almost like walking into a dream that she was sure would be a nightmare.
Yet everyone was well behaved. It was a wedding. Caitlin still felt herself shake with laughter and the baby would kick back as if to stay, "Stop it...stop it right now." But she couldn't.
There were all of her friends, even LaLa and Paulie. She was so glad to see everyone. Mario, Bren and even Rico and Liv did so much to set the rooftop with such life that made it feel like the most beautiful moment. She didn't know something like that could happen.
Still, she was in a playful pout with her dad, "You tricked me," she laughed. She laughed with her mother Serena too which rarely ever happened. They never agreed on anything. It was such a strange night.
And then Deano said, "Come on, let's go camping."
"Camping? Are you crazy?" She would never but that sly smile told her she better be ready.
Thankfully, it was a nice cabin out at the state park. It was really a sweet occasion for a last-minute honeymoon. The night was perfect for a campfire. Really, it was good cuddling weather.
But the fact remained even after she fell into a deep sleep, all she could think of was Wade and what he'd done.
Oh no

ReplyDeleteI loved reading about Caitlin's wedding from her! The cabin honeymoon does indeed sound cozy. This business with Wade now . . . very interesting. And then the mention of Melvin reminded me that someone thought they saw him even though he's dead. Things never stay calm for long around here -- and I like it!
ReplyDeleteZawsze chodzi o moment

I'm glad Caitlin enjoyed her wedding!
ReplyDeleteA very well narrated paragraph, with the whole family. A shame about Melvin.
What a good idea of the cabin for a honeymoon
