"Has Caitlin been by?" Tori wanted to know when she went with Bea to visit Caitlin and the baby. Of course, Soren was like a new little man exploring everything and of course, climbing in places he wasn't supposed to.
"Actually, not," Megan winced as she invited them in. "But Deano has been by a couple of times with always something. He's taken photos and sent them to her. She's really busy these days."
Tori did her best to smile about it, but she didn't believe Caitlin was that busy. Of course, Tori went straight to the infant while Megan had to get Soren off the top of the sofa.
"I dunno what's gotten into him. He just loves to climb," Tori sighed about Soren but smiled sweetly at baby Melvin. After all, an eight-week-old was much more manageable. Although, she doubted Megan would believe her. Little Melvin was alert and pretty much a happy baby.
Bea touched his tummy and he wiggled. This made her laugh.
"We have some big news of our own," Tori looked up at Megan.
"Really?" She looked a little shocked.
"Don't worry it's not me," Tori laughed. "Bea's going to have a baby in late May."
"You and Frankie?" Megan looked delighted and went to hug Bea. "I'm so happy for you guys!"
"We really weren't trying," Bea told her.
Megan only nodded. "I hope everything is going well for you."
"At this rate, I might not even have to buy maternity clothes," Bea shrugged about it. She said she was being careful about what she ate. "I've even lost some weight."
Tori went to see about Soren who raced down the hallway toward the bathroom.
"I don't know how she does it," Megan looked at Bea wide-eyed. "I dunno if I can handle it."
"Trust me you will," Bea told her. "Yes, it takes baby steps you know, but you'll be ready when the time comes."

ReplyDeleteThis is a good question. Yes, you should always eat healthy while pregnant, but most women who are diabetic will lose weight during a pregnancy. This could be due to all the exercise and having to eat smaller meals through the day to keep their blood sugars leveled. If they don't then after the pregnancy, they may have to stay in the hospital longer. This is what happened to a friend who didn't control her diabetes. Thankfully, her baby was OK. I have known of someone who got pregnant while on metformin when she started this treatment when she found out she was diabetic 2.

I wonder why Caitlin is staying away? I hope everything's okay with her. It's very cozy, all the other friends with their babies or babies-to-be. I love what Bea tells Megan about taking "baby steps" to keep up with her little one once he starts getting into everything. Bea is so wise!
