For you, for you, for you

Mona was filling up with resentment all over again. She had not heard from Nic. This was the last thing she'd expected. He wasn't supposed to be a guy who would even think of breaking up. She always felt he would be there for her. Instead, she had Hoyt.

It was aggravating, but the truth was Hoyt was a good listener and he'd drop whatever he was doing and get her fast food whenever she wanted. He liked to go shopping too. He was always up for getting her a new outfit. She couldn't say Nic ever did anything like that with her.

Of course, she could work at Mel's Pizza, but that only lasted a week. It was too hot there. She found herself always in a sweat, and it was such a tiring job where it would be slow in the beginning, and by the end, everything was a rush. She hated being on her feet even if it was only a four-hour shift.

Naturally, she'd taken the job out of bitterness. No way, would she work for Hoyt's mom. She'd show him how she didn't need him, but there he was. She hadn't asked him to go. No, a part of her needed him. True, it started out as a shoulder to cry on, but it was turning into something else. Something, neither would speak of.

Yes, there was the physical aspect of it. He knew what she needed, and she didn't want to smile about it. Oh, why couldn't her brain and her body stay on the same path? Perhaps, she was pathetic.

So she started working in his mother's realtor's office. If she could handle it, maybe she would someday get her realtor's license. Of course, that was a long way off. She had to learn the clerical stuff yet, and how to man the phones.

Of course, everyone was so thrilled for her. Well, her mother and Hoyt's mother, but who else mattered. To them, this was a blessing in disguise. Didn't she understand this?

But every night, she found herself thinking about Nic and wondering what had she done that was so wrong? And was he really happy now? Had she driven him away? Or was this what she was supposed to be doing?

She could be happy if she only let herself. And maybe Hoyt was just who she needed all along.

  1. Questions can tear us apart when we don't why. I feel for her. I hope the Hoyt thing isn't too soon. But maybe the realtors office is a good thing? Time will tell. :)

  6. It's good to see Mona settling into her new life, even if she still misses Nic. Maybe Hoyt is the one for her after all, especially as Mona points out that he does more things with her than Nic ever did. A guy who likes to shop is a keeper! πŸ˜πŸ’–πŸ‘–πŸ‘•
