And anyone who ever played a part

 "Say it ain't so?" Nonnie looked at her friend a little bug-eyed. Jade wasn't here by the time she got there. She had to do a little grocery shopping for the roomies and didn't make it in time like she wanted to.

"I don't think they'll break up." Rox shrugged back.

"What did you do?" Nonnie snapped as if Rox wasn't always right about everything.

They were in the kitchen scurrying around before the guys came back from the basketball court. She knew they'd be hungry so she was trying to get the tuna salad made. She'd brought chips and dips and some extra soda. It wasn't much, but she knew they wouldn't care.

"What do you mean?" Rox looked at her as if she'd never been one to cause trouble.

"Stop being so.." Nonnie gritted. She didn't know how to explain it. "Look, you and Pan really need to talk or just break up. You're not a happy person Rox." She sighed then thinking it was a terrible thing to say, but if Rox was going to be so honest about everyone's problems, she needed to be honest about her own.

Rox's frown was small, but Nonnie knew she knew it was true. 

"Do you even talk to his brother? How about Sammie? Are you even friends with her?" Nonnie wanted to know. "You need to reach out. Stop..stop being so cynical."

"Cynical?" She sounded as if she didn't know the meaning of the word. 

"Look, you have so much going for you. You can be anything you want to be. You're pretty. You can make a cheap outfit look like a million bucks," Nonnie told her all the things she envied about her and she didn't have an ugly thing to say. "I want you to..to be happy. You can be, but maybe it's not here."

Rox exploded in tears. Nonnie hadn't meant to do that to her dearest friend. She nursed her bottom lip as she raced to get the snacks ready for the boys. Of course, Rox was upset. 

Before she could think what to do, she coaxed her over to Sammy and Gabe's. They were watching TV and all so subdued.

"Can she stay here for a while," Nonnie asked.

Sammie jumped up, "What's wrong?"

"Oh, I said something I shouldn't and..and she's upset and..well, the guys will be back soon. It's just for..for an hour tops." Nonnie bit a grin, wondering if she'd ever get out of this one.

Just in the nick of time, she got back to Rox and Pans. Of course, the guys were hungry.

"Are you OK?" Sammie went to make Rox some tea. Although, Rox was caught up in her tears. Finally, she settled at the dining room table in one of their chairs. "I..I guess everyone thinks we..we should break up."

"What?" Gabe got up then as if he was concerned too. "No. You can't. I know Pan needs you. You two have been together forever." He pressed his lips tight and Sammie gave him a pat on the back and told him not to be too upset.

"Just because everyone says it should happen doesn't mean it should," she told Rox. "I know it's not easy. It never is. We all have problems."

"He..he just won't talk to me." She blurted as she wiped away the tears and her mascara ran.

Sammie nodded. She made Rox's tea. 

"Well, things are getting better, don't you think?" Sammie said some things couldn't be fixed over night. "You know him better than any of us. Maybe you know him better than he knows himself. Maybe he just doesn't know what he's doing to you."

Sammie looked to Gabe. "Let's just let her calm down." She told him he needed to talk to Pan before it was too late.
