"I'm sorry, man," Tristan said to Nic over the phone, "I didn't mean to worry you."
He finally figured out why Liv called Dale. Still, he didn't mean for so many to be involved in his troubles. At least they were back home, and he was happy in their humble abode with roommates included.
It was like playing catchup with everyone. Roxann was now taking some of Nonnie's nights so she didn't have to be at the pizzeria so much. She was, after all, taking classes. She might get on with a pharmaceutical company this summer. Elvis was doing great at the University in the mailroom, and now Weezer was figuring out how to repair the pizza ovens.
"Everything is great," Tristan assured Nic. After all, Dale got on at the local news station.
"That's great," Nic sounded enthusiastic.
"I don't know why I was so..you know, kind of hyper about marrying Dale," Tristan admitted. "I mean I do want to marry her. I do. I just wish wasn't... so." He paced a little around his room but knew bringing himself down would do no good. "I'll try harder, OK?
"It's OK. Some days just aren't perfect. Well, a lot of days," Nic half laughed. "But you just got to feel comfortable. Don't forget to have some faith in yourself. That's all I'm saying."
"I know," Tristan nodded and blew a breath. "I still need to have a talk with Holden."
"Why?"
"I dunno." He laughed. Maybe Nic was right. He had to let it go just like Dale said. "He's my friend." It was quiet then. "God, I haven't even asked about you. I don't want you to think you're just free therapy for me. Is everything going OK with you and Felicity? Does Liv need to come home?"
"Felicity and I are thinking about moving in together," Nic told him then. "But we'll need a bigger place. And Liv is doing great. She's happy. She's probably learning more of the language than I am."
"Nic, you know I miss you. I hope I see you one day," Tristan felt slightly sad. His true best friend wasn't here anymore. He was glad they could still talk. But he did miss him.
Loved to see the buildup of the text

ReplyDeleteWonderful chapter. I understand how Tristan feels. We can be happy for our friends when something good is happening in their life, but miss them because they are not by our side.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that Tristan is doing better! And that Nic is there for him:
""It's OK. Some days just aren't perfect. Well, a lot of days," Nic half laughed. "But you just got to feel comfortable. Don't forget to have some faith in yourself. That's all I'm saying." '
Truer words were never spoken! ๐๐๐
Also, thanks for your comments about my Sutton book post. Would you believe that I've never seen Hannah Montana?!
"Makes me think how Emily Osment taught Miley Cyrus to knit during Hannah Montana....as we know, who the truly grounded one is in that friendship." ๐งถ๐ฎ๐งถ
