What's the deal?

 A part of Jade felt she was all by her lonesome. At least the big registration had happened. She couldn't say it was a daycare they were running, but ballet and yogi classes filled up for the children's classes. And it was quiet now as the four o'clock hour started. Eric brought her a late lunch from the sandwich shop nearby. All was well as she crunched on a chip. And then Mona texted.

Jade squinted to look at the message. What in the world would she want, thought Jade. They hadn't seen each other in well over a month. They both were busy. Jade never thought about her. Maybe it was big news from her old roommate. Like a destination wedding, but it wasn't.

"Do you think she looks like me?" She sent a photo of some girl that Jade didn't recognize, but she looked like Mona, but not a lot.

"I dunno, maybe." 

Jade didn't know what it was about. She put her phone down and went ahead to eat the fresh turkey sn avocado sandwich in a sea of shredded lettuce, onions, and tomato wedged in the sourdough. She closed her eyes. It was so good. She would definitely leave none of it for Ari.

"Hoyt used to date her," Mona sent another message.

Jade almost choked but cleared her throat just in time to wash it down with a Bubly Burst soda.

"Well, he's not with her, anymore."

Jade shrugged after she sent a message back on her phone. What was Mona trying to do? Cause trouble with Hoyt now?

"Yeah, but, she looks like me."

"Are you OK?"

Jade stared at her phone wondering what she was supposed to do.

"I'm meeting her for lunch tomorrow," Mona shot back. "Could you come?"

Jade scowled at the message. It left a bad taste in her mouth that she had to be there too. Of course, she had nothing else going on and Mona said she'd pay for lunch.
