"Well," Kevin knew it was too much of a hot topic to take on with Vada about Jared, but maybe he really did more guy friends in his life. Actually, he'd never found the time, but here was Rico taking down chairs at an art presentation that had happened over thirty minutes ago.
Rico was a real pro. Kevin watched a he lined all the plush fold up seats back in their placed stacked ever so conveniently for the next time they needed them in the back from.
"Huh?" Rico looked back at him.
"You know Vada best," Kevin said.
"I wouldn't say that."
Rico looked a bit bewildered by this. "She's my sister's best friend."
"More like an assistant." He knew how Vada treated Sammie. There were a lot things he knew he couldn't change about Vada, but he wanted to be with her anyway.
"But..but they come from different worlds," Rico knew this much. "I think it might be hard for Vada to you know, just be one of us since her family is so rich."
"But, she'd be married by now, if she'd stayed."
Kevin didn't want to say it would have been an arranged marriage, but possible. She wouldn't say, he'd guessed. And he knew this must have been a shock to her. Although she claimed to be independent, he could feel she was dependent of her family even if maybe it was getting better to be on her own.
"But..but she's not really who I want to talk about," he shrugged and then went to help Rico with the last of the chairs. They talked about Valentine's day for a bit. Of course, Rico was getting Mona flowers and he was staying in to cook for her.
Kevin liked the idea, although, he didn't really cook, and Vada couldn't even boil an egg.
"Was that what you wanted to ask me?" Rico asked as he was locking up the quiet facility. They were alone in the hallways.
"It's about Jared."
"Jared?"
"Oh, you know that brother of Justin's."
Rico nodded as if he'd soon not talk about Justin.
"I think he could help me," Kevin said.
"Help you? Didn't he steal Vada away?" Rico squinted as he remembered very well how the holidays went.
"But he didn't," Kevin chuckled. "Look, to stay here, he needs a job. He needs an education."
"Isn't he like thirty-something?" Rico scowled.
"All the reason he needs a job. He can work for me in my department." Kevin told him students didn't really like keeping rooms clean nor the art studio supplied. "And he can go to school."
"But he doesn't look like an art student," Rico sighed.
"He doesn't have to," Kevin said.
Thirty something and still study? Well, Kevin is kind.
