It's hard not to get at you

"Oh, that St. Patrick's Day Quiz at the pub just about put me under for the week," Eddie said feeling he was sleepwalking these days with so much going on in his life. Yes, he was still in nursing school, but he had too many projects to get to.

"I swear, Babe, you got ADHD bad."

Roman served him up an egg scramble dotted with sausage, mushrooms, and jalapenos. He always had a way of waking him up in the morning.

But Eddie just yawned. He didn't want to hear it. Helping the kids with ballet outfits at the dance school was a second job, even if it was volunteer work. And he did like having a chance to visit with Eric and Derrick. But they'd been sick these days. It was good they could all get together at the pub.

"It's just I don't study trivia, like I used too." Eddie pouted as he breathed in his creamed coffee.

"It was nice the Sons of Ireland won, you know," Roman shrugged about the matter. "Besides, you are going to be a surgeon's nurse. You have to prioritize."

Eddie nodded as if he'd think about it. Of course, they were putting everything on hold. Like a wedding and a honeymoon. Actually, they were married, but they just hadn't celebrated it. Life was going on and he wished they did have more time for these get-to-gathers.

It was good to look at photos of Pixie and Cyrus' little one. He bet Pixie had another baby even if she said she just couldn't or wouldn't. He liked their kind of happiness.

At least, he and Roman just lived down the block from Deano and Caitlin now. Although, they rarely ever saw them. Occasionally, Deano would drop in with their little one and He'd have coffee and talk of his husband's troubles with Caitlin. But he hadn't seen him since their new baby arrived. And they hadn't gone to visit with COVID on the rise and other illnesses they saw most days at the hospital.

"I know what you're thinking," Roman said.

"What would I be thinking?" Eddie cracked up.

"You and me, being Dads."

Roman smiled as he took a sip of coffee. "You know, you're the mothering type."

"You think," he squinted a smile. "Well, you're fathering skills might be a little unconventional, but I know you could get the job done."

Roman nodded. "Some day, it's gonna happen. And we'll be ready, but first you got get this nursing stuff done, and you will get it done."

"Oh really," Eddie sighed.

"Damn, I forgot about the brain food," Roman got up to go to the fridge. He got out the small bowl of blueberries and popped one in Eddie's mouth.

  7. Acho que eles estão certos, pra ter filhos é preciso planejamento e realmente querer ser pai e ser mãe, porque a vida muda depois disso.
