Growth is uncomfortable

 "Is it late there?" Delia's question over the phone made Jade wince, but she was awake, reading some book she'd gotten a Dollar Tree, DELICATE CONDITION.  Of course, Ari was already snoozing.

"I guess it's eleven," she shrugged as she was cozy on the couch with her book, and some Passion herbal tea.

"I'm in Miami," Delia filled her in about the new job. "I should be talking to Tris, but I know he's had a long day with me, already. I just..well, I needed to ask you something."

"Ask me something?" 

This got Jade's attention. She put the book away and wondered if this about taking care of plants or something.

"It's about Tristan," Delia said she hated leaving him so abruptly. "I miss him so much. I just don't know how he will be..if..if I'm not there."

"He'll be fine," Jade told her not to worry about him.

"I know you think that, but..but this is going to stress him out, so much. I'm afraid he won't eat. He won't sleep."

Jade could hear the sadness in Delia's voice. "I don't want him to go off the deep end. What if he doesn't take his meds?"

"I know you're worried. But he'll be fine, and you two will see each other."

"I don't know when."

It was as if she couldn't let herself be happy with the new job. She sounded so unsettled as if she'd done the worst thing instead of the best thing in her life.

"Look, we'll check on him," Jade said. Although she noted it would be her and Ari. Jade wouldn't do it alone. "I'll invite him over for dinner when I can."

"Maybe Carmen can help," Delia suggested.

"Carmen?" Jade squinted. "Oh, yeah. Sure." She thought of Justin, who was Ari's friend. "Yeah, we'll make sure he eats, OK."

Jade sighed with a smile. Maybe Tristan would move to Florida to be with Delia. She said she was sending Delia positive thoughts. Summer was barely here.  What could go wrong?
