How do you know until you try

 "I just don't see how I could be his type." Nori did have a lot of confidence, but she was certain Jared was not her type.

Oh, he was nice enough when she saw him in passing. After all, she worked in the office and was usually on the radio with the guys about what needed to be taken care of at CITY. She'd done her best not to make a fool of herself around him, but she spilled it all to Mel while they were out walking their pups at the dog park.

"I don't believe you," Mel said as she looked at Nori being this way about the possible date with Jared.

"Oh, you just want to go, because Kevin will be there." Nori gave Mel a look that this was what she was going after. This setup with Nori and Jared was just a trick, perhaps.

"I am not. I really think Jared's a good guy. Besides, Kevin isn't really over Vada, I'm sure they'll get back together once she's tired of this dude that she acts doesn't exist. Although I think Jared has figured it out, and of course, he's Kevin's best friend."

"And that's why I'm going because I'm your friend," Nori pouted.

"Oh, come on, you'll have fun." Mel told her.

"He likes you." Nori shrugged.

"Who?" Mel winced. They hurried their pups along and made sure neither fell in the way of the German Shepherd who always liked to show his teeth.

"Jared of course." 

Nori looked at her blankly. Mel shook her head, no.

"When are you going to confess to Kevin, how you feel about him?"

"Never."

Mel sighed. It was good to be his neighbor. They could look out for each other. She wasn't expecting anything else.

They both let the dogs take the lead. They were all getting their exercise. Nori imagined if Jared were here, he would let them run while. A part of her loved the idea of watching Jared run while too. But somebody would catch him sooner or later, and she'd hate if that somebody left him feeling they'd taken the man he could be.

Nori sighed. "What do I have to do?"
