Look Up to the skies and see

 Sunny's mother Yooni, arrived. It felt as if Sunny had met a new person. Could this be her mother? It had been so long. Of course, most of her life had been school, cram sessions, and even more lessons, even when she was younger. Still, Sunny was certain she'd failed her while her mom looked younger than ever.

Of course, it was a growing silence. It was as if they had no idea what to say to each other. Sunny would keep pushing Louie to do all the talking. Her mom would watch and nod and do whatever Louie might offer. She seemed satisfied with the lodging. Although, she never thanked Sunny for anything. Of course, seeing Woo and Liv's baby was the big event. 

Sunny felt she couldn't compare. Although she was certain her mother would have been angry if she'd been the one with the baby. 

Finally, on the third day, her mother mentioned. "But Louie's Chinese."

"But he speaks Korean perfectly well," Sunny came back with a smile, and her mom nodded. "He hasn't been to Hong Kong in forever." After all, his mom was from here.

"Do you think his family knows about you?" Her mother's glare got to her. They were alone, and Sunny wished she had Louie to protect her.

"Oh, he, he's never said anything about them. He came here to live with his grandmother when he was a child." Sunny didn't know what else her mother wanted to know.

"So will you marry him?" Her mother's frown was a full circle as if she couldn't have that.

"Oh, Ma." Sunny nervously laughed. 

"Your uncle married an American."

"But..but you live in America." Sunny wasn't sure what she was getting at.

Sunny couldn't help to have wide open eyes. "Are you angry about Woo and Liv?"

It was then that her mother got out her phone and showed her her mother's other life. She had an American husband and a son. Evidently, they didn't know Sunny existed.
