The first thing Rennie told Jun was, "I would know you anywhere."
She was quick to point out that he was the most nervous one in the bunch. She knew Sunny right away at the airport. Next, she shook Louie's hand. "You two are taking such good care of Jun."
Meanwhile, she was certain Jun would collapse from all the excitement. She was certain she might have to pick him up to carry him to the car. After all, she was much bigger than he was.
Of course, she wouldn't dwell on the thought that she'd frightened him. If only she could take him home with her to the States, but that was very unlikely. He was growing silent as if maybe he'd lost her hearing when she spoke.
So they texted each other in the car. His English was much better through text. She told him it was exciting to be here and how she would love just to go to the shops. She didn't want to do anything too fancy. He gave her a quick "sure," which she wondered later to mean, "Do I have to?"
"Take me to see your grandmother," she texted as if that was an essential. But she didn't even get a 'sure' reply on that one.
When they got to Louie and Sunny's, dinner was waiting for them at the neighbor's, Chewy and Chai.
She was enamored with the little one. "Daisy is so precious." She told Chewy and Chai, and they thanked her. They said they were happy to finally meet her.
"I've been dreaming of meeting all of you. Really," Rennie smiled into tears. There was so much she wanted to tell Jun. But he was so stoic. Was he that disappointed?
Still, she got a group hug and enjoyed the spicy meal, tacos Korean style.
so everyone likes Rennie, except Jun...what a pity!
