just between us

"Am I right, girls?" Tori couldn't help but mock Dylan's boss the next day. She could tell even the catchphrase made Dylan tense. "She just kept saying it. Like it was the only thing she knew to say." Tori didn't mean to make a deal out of it. Actually, she felt a little bit sad about her, yet  Tori wasn't sure where she was even going with this early morning conversation. After all, she's spent another night at Dylan's. Suddenly, she felt the need to let Megan know she was still here but went to get more coffee. "Anyway, I think she likes you, I think your boss really wants to date you."

Dylan laughed softly. "Don't think so." He handed her another waffle and she put some mixed fruit on it along with some agave syrup.

"Should we set her up with Tommy?" Tori burst into laughter. After all, Maisy was on the hunt for a man.

"That might not be a bad idea," Dylan looked at her with an open smile.

"It would be the worst idea," Tori couldn't help but laugh more.

"Really?" Dylan wanted to know more.

"Oh, he looks like he's got it together. I mean that takes a lot of will power, you know," she sighed as she cut into the waffle and took a bite.

Dylan nodded and broke a piece of crispy bacon in half, "Why is that?"

"He's um..moody." Tori shrugged, thinking she should have braided her hair or put it in a ponytail. But it was too late, her hair was already getting sticky from the syrup. "He can go for days without speaking to anyone."

"Seriously?" Obviously, Dylan thought she was joking.

"Seriously," she took a sip of coffee and wondered why she'd been around Tommy so long. "I had nowhere to go and I know I should have left ages ago. I actually, went to a homeless shelter once because I thought it was me. You know, making him like that." She went back to the waffle as if she needed to forget her troubles with Tommy, but she put down the fork and knife. "That's where I learned to crochet. I spent all my time crocheting. I had nothing else to do." Tori was on the brink of crying, "but he found me, eventually."

Dylan nodded. "Well, I'm glad he found you and I'm glad you moved into Megan and Caitlin's." His smile was genuine. "But nothing is quite perfect and neither am I."

  7. Very interesting story. Some people just aren't talkative and I can see why Tori interpreted it as being her own fault, she doesn't seem very sure in herself, it might be because of her childhood.

  8. Hi!
Good chapter as usual and I like that Dylan listened patiently to Tori's detailed explanation about her difficult circumstances.
