"Oh, my god," no doubt, could Levi express his happiness, finding Deano again. Oh, he'd never admit it, but he was certain some of the best times of his life were spent with Deano. "When's the last time-"
"That's a hard one," Deano only smiled, then winced. "I guess it was at the Sokal."
It was a fond memory. Back when everyone wanted to be at the Sokal. It was the only time he got Deano to play for a crowd but Deano kept his back turned from the audience the whole night. It was a fantastic time. Although, most of their songs were covers by indie bands that could never make it out to their neck of the woods. It was the crowd who made Levi feel they were their own songs. Deano played bass and Levi was on the keyboard.
"Don't tell me, you've given up music?" Levi looked at him, thinking Deano hadn't changed a bit.
"I'm afraid so." Deano's lip was even as he gave him a nod. He then mentioned he was living with Mario's sister. "I lived here most of the summer." Deano chuckled.
Levi kept smiling. "I missed you man, really." Levi couldn't help to think Deano was his true soul mate. His timing was impeccable and they were at their best with they played music.
"I've missed you too." Deano almost cracked up in a laugh, "But let me tell you, who's missed you more."
"Who?" Levi looked at him, almost stunned. He couldn't think of no one, actually. But then he'd been in so many places, since then. He'd taken care of his grandmother in Isreal and had a few startups, popups, and the like with other musicians, but it was nothing like being with Deano.
"You don't know?" Deano looked at him as if he could guess, but his mind drew a blank.
"No, I don't." Levi was puzzled. He never had a girlfriend. Actually, no one. He winced in thought. Fans weren't that strange. Not in his book.
"Roman, of course." Deano smiled.
"Roman?" Who in the hell was Roman, he thought.
Great has this kind of friendship. Maybe time past, or you can't see this person from a period but you know that is there for you.

Music is an amazing language that one connect to everyone all around the world. Deano's decision is so bad!
ReplyDeleteGenial fragmento me gudta Deano , te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteque linda tu entrada abrazo
ReplyDeleteI like it❤
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking Deano the musician! His turning away from the audience while playing all those years ago fits the unassuming and sweet character I've grown to love. And the Levi connection is really interesting. Soul mates, huh? Somehow I don't think Caitlin would do well with that. It's the last line, though (as always!), that's the clincher. Now I need to know why Levi doesn't remember Roman!
ReplyDeleteDespite my "go jump in the leaves post," I haven't done many fallish things either. Unless you count buying and putting out a fall welcome mat. It's the first seasonal doormat I ever bought, and it made me feel old yet cozy.
Very interesting to see Levi come into the picture!
ReplyDeleteThis chapter pulled me in with its tangible adjectives. Really thoughtful of you to describe the progression in life events of Deano.
ReplyDeleteGreat has this kind of friendship
