It felt like a distant memory now, but Alex did feel beautiful in the prom dress. Yes, it was a magical evening. After all, Eric was the dancer and guided Alex through the whole ordeal on the floor. Honestly, Alex could follow Eric's lead.
If that's all it had been. Oh, why was he/she like this? If only every day could be Prom. Still, it was a lot of work. He/She did feel the most beautiful person there was Liv. And yes, Alex did envy Liv and Rico. Could he/she ever feel that comfortable around Eric? After all, it wasn't easy dating your crush. Especially, when you'd never dated before.
But if it wasn't enough, worrying over where to go and what to do, there was Eric's ex stuck in the picture too.
Salvador was a dancer, as well. Possibly, a good four years older than Eric and they still were in the same circle at the University. Naturally, Sal was the happy sort. Still friendly with Eric and it made Alex all the more bitter. Why was this happening? How was he/she supposed to keep up with this sort of thing?
Sure, they were invited to all sorts of PRIDE parties. It wasn't until this year that Alex felt OK about even going to the Pride Parade. It had been joyous. Surrounded by so many in such a togetherness that Alex did enjoy the solidarity of it.
But he/she wasn't sure he/she was ready to be a part of that crowd. After all, there was Liv and Rico and of course, Pixie and Cyrus too. Alex couldn't ignore them. He/She couldn't ignore Sal either. How could he/she be the one for Eric without being clingy?
"But..but Eric likes you," Liv made it sound that was enough. Alex wanted to hear, "But he loves ME."
Sadly, Alex knew this shouldn't be all about ME. But sometimes, Alex felt he/she was right back where he/she started. At least, the parents were happy to see Alex have a real job. And maybe Alex was hanging in the balance. Honestly, Alex didn't want to make trouble this summer.
Such evenings cannot be forgotten.

ReplyDeleteGrazie della visita. A presto! Buona domenica!
ReplyDeleteOh, Alex. My heart squeezes for them! As if identity issues aren't taxing enough, now they have to worry about Eric's ex. Still, I'm glad that Alex is becoming more comfortable even if they have far to go (and who doesn't?): "Sure, they were invited to all sorts of PRIDE parties. It wasn't until this year that Alex felt OK about even going to the Pride Parade. It had been joyous. Surrounded by so many in such a togetherness that Alex did enjoy the solidarity of it." That's what pride's all about.
ReplyDeleteThis collage is gorgeous. I love the rainbows and flowers and pretty pink heels. :)
I really liked this, and I was completely immersed in the lives of these characters who were so unique. I loved the descriptions!
