"Why do you know so damn much?" Holden needed a fight he reckon, but it wasn't going to happen with Tristan, evidently.
"I've known Bren..since forever." Tristan looked at him blankly when he spoke of Holden's sister.
"Really?" What the hell did that mean? Did he know her better than...
He sighed. It was hard to wrap his head around all this. His dad had been in the hospital? He winced in disbelief. His dad was never sick. Never.
Of course, he sucked in a breath. That hadn't been the case with his mother. He was straight-lipped. He couldn't breathe a word about his parents.
He rested his hand on the back of his neck. Oh, what misery. He was in a stomp there on the driveway outside his garage. It was his only domain, even if Dora had decorated his man cave in the basement. He hated to tell her it wasn't exactly his liking, but he would live with it.
"I don't care." Holden snapped, looking at Tristan with practically a snarl.
"You're gonna be an uncle." Tristan nodded. "Hell, I'm not even an uncle." He let slip with a lopsided smile.
Holden swelled a frown.
"Look, it would be nice if..if you could come to..to where your dad is staying. Meet everyone. I think they are planning a backyard wedding at Mario's dad's house.
Holden hugged himself. He squinted harder. His half-sister was having a baby. Somehow, he'd been the one who wanted that to happen first. He was supposed to be the first, but he wasn't.

DeleteHolden seems to be a bit of a baby about -- well, not being the first to have a baby! That said, his decision to keep his opinion about Dora's disastrous decorating of his main cave to himself shows growth. I do hope he'll take Tristan's advice and be there for Bren.๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐
