Sunny found Louie to be quite the minimalist, or he just didn't like cleaning up.
Each had one bowl, one cup, a spoon and chopsticks. "But what if I want a fork?" She asked.
"Do you really need a fork?" He crossed his arms as if he was ready to have a row right in the kitchen.
"Fruit?" She looked at him a little bug-eyed.
He shook his head. Couldn't she eat an apple without a fork?
She gave him a funny look. Had he forgotten about all that summer fruit? And what about strawberries?
But she didn't make the matter worse. He dug around in the kitchen drawer until he found one. He said it wasn't his.
Honestly, she wasn't sure what Liv was making a fuss about her moving in. Louie worked at the old folks' home. After work, he played chess with the old men at the park and entertained all the dancing grannies with his own square dance style. Yeah, even Sunny thought he was kind of comical.
Louie had his room which she never saw, and then Hart's room. She didn't like it much. The bed was solid, but she didn't like all the brown. She wanted something to call her own.
"Well, we can pack it all up and get it out of here," Louie shrugged.
"I have to go through it," she winced.
"How long is that going to take?" He gave her a look that she needed to hurry up.
"It's just-"
"Overwhelming?"
She nodded.
"Yeah, that's why I didn't want to do it."
"You probably could have cleaned it out and rented this room to anyone," Sunny hugged herself as if nothing had really changed. She was just living in somebody else's space. Not her own.
"I didn't just want anybody," Louie frowned.
"Yeah, what about Chewy?"
"He spends enough time as it is, here," Louie told her.
"I don't see him," she looked at him blankly.
"Because I said he needed to find another place for his butt to do all the sitting," Louie was in a pout. It was as if she'd made him do it. Otherwise, Chewy would be on the livingroom couch, eating what was in the fridge.
"You think he'll ever settle down?" Sunny thought out loud.
"Not until his cuteness wears out, and that might be soon," Louie said Chewy hadn't had a girlfriend in forever.
"Was he ever a friend of Hart's?" Sunny needed to know. Now she made Louie chuckle.
"Oh, you are doing your damndest to hate Hart, aren't you?" He smiled, but he scooted her along to Hart's room. "Go find some stuff to throw away."
Great picture of human behavior
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could do it without a fork either. There are some dishes that are easy to eat only with a fork :)
