Down in the middle of a nightmare daydream

The last thing Ari said as they were loading him up in the ambulance. "Tell, Hoyt to get married soon." He'd grabbed Jade by her thin cami and almost exposed herself. Yes, he would go it alone to the hospital.

Oh, he was sick. Sick of the heat. Sick with a headache. According to Jade.  Later she mopped his sweat off the kitchen floor. She didn't know that was part of being dehydrated.

Luckily, it wasn't long until he was back home. Still no power.

"I thought you wanted to go to your sister's," Jade didn't want to come back.

"But we'll suffice," he told her.

"All our laundry is still at their house," she told him she'd done the sensible thing. She'd gone there and took a nap in the cool air conditioning while the laundry was going.

"I don't want them to see me this way," Ari hated defeat.

"It's OK. We can do this," she said, but they had no cash. Any place that was open was only taking cash.

Ari only nodded. He needed to be left alone. His blood sugar was low when he left. He didn't know why it was him and not Jade.

She got him on the couch for a nap. Still, she said they were going to his sister's even if he didn't like it.

"Are Hoyt and Mona there?" He could barely lift himself up while she was washing up what was left of the dishes in cold water.

"He finally got her to go to his mother's," she said he was close by if Ari really needed him. Ari shook his head, no.

"You didn't tell him what I told you to tell him, did you?"

Jade shook her head, no.

"I think he's about to give up on her," Ari sighed.

"Really," Jade squinted. "Well, you know, she's so Mona." They both knew she was tough to live with, but surely Hoyt knew this all along.

Ari nodded as if he knew his niece better than she knew herself.

"Maybe she's still in love with Nic."

Ari held his stomach again, It felt bad again.

"Let's not talk about it," Jade said Ari probably needed to be in a cool place with lots of cold water. This time, he wasn't going to fight her on it.

  1. The scene captures a poignant moment of vulnerability and exhaustion, showcasing the characters' struggle with both personal and practical issues. Jade’s determination to support Ari, despite their challenging circumstances, and Ari's frustration and concern for Hoyt and Mona create a compelling and relatable narrative. The interplay between their dialogue and Ari’s physical discomfort adds depth to their situation.

  2. Dehydration can cause a lot of health trouble. Ari is sick, and Jade is trying to make him comfortable after his brief return from hospital. Hopefully, she'll succeed doing that.

I love how supportive Jade is of Ari.
    Dehydration is no joke!
It's also nice how Ari thinks of others as he is rushed to hospital.

  4. This happened to a someone in my family in our latest storm that was here a few weeks ago. He never gets sick. It was such a shock when it happened.

  8. Despite Ari's struggles, he still thinks about Hoyt and Mona! I hope he quickly overcomes the difficult situation he's in. Thankfully, he agreed to go to his sister's house; family should help each other! Well-written, Ellie, it's very engaging and always touches on issues that concern us all!
    Have a nice Week🧡
