I want you to be who you want me to be

It was so sweet to see Dora and Holden's baby again. Jade told Dora that she (Jade) needed more practice with holding babies, so it was great to spend the day with her, even if Ari didn't come.

"I don't think he's sold on having a baby yet," Jade confessed.

"Well, I don't think Holden was either, but he's really taking the lead, you know."

Dora talked about how he googled everything from baby bottles to diapers. "He's in the know now."

"Oh, that helps you a lot, doesn't it?" Jade smiled as she made sure not to let the baby's head bobble.

"He's so much better at being a dad than his dad ever was," Dora sighed.

"I don't know how you do it," Jade shook her head. She felt Ari would be mad at her if they had a baby. She knew he meant well, but she wasn't getting any younger. "I'd just like to have a baby ..you know, my sister is pregnant."

"Is that really the reason?" Dora smiled back.

"No, not really," Jade shrugged back. "I just feel the timing is right..right now. I love holding the baby. I just feel, we aren't really a family yet..until.."

"You should be telling Ari all these things," Dora told her it was good to talk this through with your significant other.

"I just don't want to hear him tell me, no." Jade sighed.

"Well, maybe he won't."

Dora told her it wouldn't be an easy conversation. "But you two need to be on the same page, you know..so it's good to talk. And if you hurt each other's feelings..then you'll know."

Jade nodded. She knew Dora was right, but she wasn't sure if she was ready to know the truth.

Sometimes one cannot be fully ready for the truth.
We just need to face the truth.

  2. Find someone else who wants to have a baby with you if Ari insists that he doesn't want a baby....

  3. This is a heartfelt and reflective moment in the story. The dialogue between Jade and Dora feels honest and real, capturing the complexity of relationships and the emotions involved in life-changing decisions like starting a family. The way Jade’s thoughts and hesitations are shared brings a relatable depth to her character—there's that tension between desire, timing, and fear of the unknown. Dora’s advice is grounded and wise, yet there’s a gentle understanding of how difficult these conversations can be. It’s a powerful reminder that communication is key, even when the truth may be hard to face.
